BELL COUNTY

AGAVES LANDSCAPE IN BELTON, TX

Belton is the Bell County seat, a city of about 23,000 people (2020 census) built out from the courthouse square and Nolan Creek, with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor near downtown. It has two kinds of yard: established lots with mature trees around the old town and UMHB, and new builds with builder sod on the edges of the city.

About 10 minutes south of our Temple base on I-35.

The ground

Belton sits where the Blackland Prairie clay meets the limestone country to the west, so ground near downtown swells and shrinks with the weather while lots toward Belton Lake and Stillhouse Hollow get shallower and rockier.

Homes and lots

Older homes on established, tree-shaded lots near downtown and UMHB, and newer subdivisions such as Three Creeks, Hubbard Branch, and Dawson Ridge where yards start as builder sod and a row of shrubs.

Good to know

Work inside the city limits goes through the City of Belton for any permit, newer subdivisions usually have HOA rules on fences and front-yard changes, and every dig starts with a Texas811 locate.

SERVICES IN BELTON

Everything we do in Belton.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN & BUILD

Older Belton lots need a plan that works around mature trees and beds reworked by several owners, while new builds are a blank slate where beds, curbing, and a patio can be laid out together.

CONCRETE & HARDSCAPE

On the clay near downtown, base prep and slope away from the house matter more than the finish, because the ground moves between wet springs and dry summers.

IRRIGATION

Established lots often have old sprinkler systems patched over the years, and new builds often have builder systems zoned for sod only, so both usually need rezoning once beds and patios go in.

PAVERS & HARDSCAPE

Sloped lots toward Belton Lake and along Nolan Creek are where retaining walls and stepped paver patios earn their place, holding soil that would otherwise wash out in a hard rain.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Many new Belton homes come with a slab just big enough for a grill, so outdoor kitchens and seating areas usually start with extending that slab.

OUTDOOR STRUCTURES

Pergolas and patio covers on established lots have to be placed around mature tree canopies and roots, and HOA subdivisions often want plans reviewed first.

TURF, FENCES & COURTS

Shade under big trees near downtown thins grass and makes artificial turf worth considering, while fence work in newer subdivisions usually follows HOA height and material rules.
