Killeen is the largest city in Bell County, with about 153,000 people (2020 census), and sits directly beside the main cantonment of Fort Hood. Much of the housing is newer construction on the south and west sides, and many homes are owned by military families on tours of a few years or rented out after a PCS move.
About 30 minutes west of our Temple base via I-35 and US-190 (I-14).
The ground
Killeen lies west of the Balcones Escarpment in rolling limestone country, and toward the west side of the city the soil is often thin over rock, which affects trenching, excavation, and how well sod and beds hold water.
